We are a soul first in human form. You’ve heard this before. So then why would we approach weight loss from a limited human perspective?
Think about your soul’s purpose here on planet earth. What community are you trying to positively impact? How does what you do – personally or professionally – infuse more light and love into the world? I’m going to take this a step further and ask you what else you wish to accomplish in your lifetime that adds value to the lives of others and fills your energy tank?
This kind of thinking is in direct alignment with the authentic self and recalibrates the mind and body to the frequency of your soul. And THIS is a powerful mindset for conquering low frequency patterns, like “too much” behavior.
As a spiritual being, here’s a few things to consider when it comes to food:
- High frequency beings cannot tolerate low frequency foods very well. This is something to celebrate, not dread. Highly processed, sugary, caffeinated, high fatty foods simply don’t provide the sustenance and mental/physical energy needed to support our life work. As a weight loss hypnotherapist, I have discovered the more “helpers/healers” begin embracing a nutritionally dense lifestyle, the less enticing junk food and empty calories become. Also, the more awakened hypnosis clients become to how lower frequency foods create fight or flight response patterns leading to digestive issues, inflammation, migraines, pain symptoms, brain fog, and changes in mood. By simply giving themselves a point of reference or comparison (before and after), the mind/body connection is strengthened, as well as feelings of self-compassion for all the unnecessary pain inflicted upon oneself.
- Infuse spiritual intention into every snack and meal by simply saying these words “bless this food to the nourishment of my body.” Nothing awakens the Higher mind more readily than tapping into the wisdom of the soul. The Higher mind “eats to live” rather than “lives to eat,” makes intentional choices and finds solutions that support the spiritual body.
- Think in terms of feeding your soul – not just with food, but with emotionally rich experiences and adventures. The mind loves choices, sensory stimulation – movement, activity or even a change in career that creates high frequency feelings of excitement, confidence, self-love, worthiness, etc. I have a saying “overfeeding the body is a symptom of starving the soul.” The pitfall of conventional weight loss is focusing on withhold something or adding something undesirable to your “to do” list. However, focusing on overall quality of life and things that put a “fire in the belly” has proven most effective in producing sustainable weight loss.
- When it comes to craving a flavor, texture, or a sensation connected to a food, try meditating and asking the intuitive mind what this food represents? Craving something crunchy could represent boredom or frustration. Craving chocolate may represent the need to feel nurtured or pampered. There are so many ways you can address your needs and desires outside the context of food.
The human perspective regards food and body image in terms of immediate gratification and systems of reward/punishment. It uses queues from the outer world to determine self-worth and allows the primitive mind to direct the inner dialogue toward feeling pessimistic, defeated, and stuck.
In contrast, the spiritual perspective understands the value of playing the long game when it comes to creating healthy lifestyles and easily equates challenges with lessons, teachings and wisdom. Since one’s self-concept comes from inner world/Higher mind validation, it directs the inner dialogue toward optimism, encouragement, patience and unconditional love.
When it comes to overeating, food is not the enemy. The enemy is continuing to live inauthentically.
