You could go vegetarian or vegan. How about Paleo? You could commit to a life of weighting and measuring your food and your body – of micromanaging every meal of every day.
But you know your own body best. You know what foods agree with you and which wreak havoc. You know when to eat and how much. You even know the difference between eating when you are hungry and when you are “mood eating.”
So why wouldn’t you just lean on your intellectual wisdom to guide you in your own weight loss journey? And what is it that is so alluring and sexy about seeking the advice of an expert – someone outside of yourself who has a lot of the same intellectual knowledge as you?
And herein lies the addiction conundrum – allowing the intellect to snuff out the intuitive. Look – if the intellect or conscious mind could truly solve addictions, then why do people have life-long battles with addictions? Why do they stave off one addiction only to cling to another? Why is it that people shop for a steady stream of mainstream protocols to give them relief?
It’s not that these mainstream programs or protocols don’t make ANY sense – it’s just that they are NOT the KIND OF SENSE that creates sustainability or recovery in its purest form.
This is because we, as a society, rarely take the time to learn how to access the higher mind or the deeper levels of the mind where intuitive wisdom lies. THIS is where you find clarity, answers, resolution and ultimately – inner peace. THIS is where you find your own customized healing formula that resonates best with your soul.
The combination of Hypnosis, Energy Healing and Meditation – these are all stellar tools to help get you there – mainly because it places YOU at the helm.
But in the interim, here are some basic spiritual principles and lifestyle practices you can integrate into your daily life to create sustainable weight loss – principles and practices that go beyond the confines of any specific nutrition or exercise plan.
Here they are:
1 – Meditation: Meditate twice daily – first thing in the morning and right before bed. This allows you to access the higher mind or intuitive mind where calmness, wisdom and intentionality exists in abundance. When your mind is calm; your eating and life choices and patterns are calm.
2 – Gratitude: Simply get into the practice of saying aloud or in your mind before each meal: “Bless this food to the nourishment of my body.” Over time, as a result, you will eat at a slower pace, chew your food more thoroughly and begin to regard food as a sacred fuel.
3 – Mood: Take 3 deep, healing restorative yoga breaths before you eat anything. I use the “HA” breath, where I envision breathing in through the nose all things calm, pure and healing – while releasing through the outbreath (by saying a “breathy HA sound”) any thoughts or feelings I need to let go of. This conditions the mind to focus on the task at hand, without distraction, as well as the body to singularly focus on eating and digesting food. YES – your state of mind impacts your choices and how your body performs (even during digestion). This practice also helps acknowledge mealtime or any form of eating as a time that is to be honored and respected.
When it comes to any overindulgent behavior – the addiction is the physical manifestation of something in your life that is off balance and therefore creating chaos in your mind. The key to reeling in any undesired behavior, is to create calmness and emotional grounding through the practice of mediation and the setting of intentions. All this can be taught and reinforced during our hypnosis sessions.
In a nutshell – how you eat takes precedence over what you eat.
